Meet Andre Wald

Andre Wald is the owner and Lead Technician of Lock 12 Tech and has lived In the Whitehall area for well over a decade. Wald has always been fascinated with electronics, computers, and radios. At a young age, he was playing with Commodore 64 and Apple II computers. His enthusiasm for technology continued throughout college when Wald decided to build custom machines and experiment with Linux.

Wald acquired his Amateur “ham” radio license in 2002, mainly so he could get involved in public service events. Another benefit, he quickly learned, was that it helped him to understand better how wi-fi signals work under certain conditions.

More recently, Wald worked with educational institutions managing computers and devices. These devices were both owned by the institutions or by those attending. Mass deployment of tablets, updates, and upgrades of computers, and making sure all of them worked efficiently on the wireless network is just a shortlist of his responsibilities.

“I get a thrill out of helping people with their technology. I’ve worked with tech-savvy users and those who are intimidated by technology. It’s always rewarding to end a visit with someone who is smiling and who feels more confident about using the latest gadgets. Occasionally, I get a high five at the end of a visit when things go extremely well, user-initiated, of course!” Wald said with a hearty laugh.
